First Bank contributes to Richmond Parks & Recreation

Written by: Susan Richwine  |

Richmond, Indiana – First Bank Richmond announced today that they will donate $5,000 to Richmond Parks and Recreation during the month of March 2021. The funds will be applied to community programming and event sponsorships. Richmond Parks and Recreation’s mission is to provide for the positive development and well-being of the Richmond community through the provision of parks, greenways, trails and recreational programming and facilities while working in cooperation with other service providers and partners in the community to maximize all available resources.

“The generosity of First Bank Community Foundation continues to shine with their parks support in 2021. Programming and Events are not a part of our annual budget; therefore, the park team works hard to find sponsors to make these opportunities a reality for our community. We want to thank First Bank Community Foundation for their willingness to support our Egg Hunt Drive Thru on 3/27 12-3, Music in the Park Series, Farmers Market, Food Truck Wednesday, and the Family Series.”

Denise Retz, Superintendent of Richmond Parks and Recreation

“First Bank is a proud supporter of our lovely parks system and all of the programing that it offers our community including:  bike/walking trails, playgrounds, municipal golf course, skate parks, pickleball courts.   Green spaces add to our quality of life especially adding the top-notch programing and events that they offer. We’re excited about sponsoring the drive-through Egg Hunt, Music in the Park, Food Truck Wednesday, and the Farmer’s Market.

Kim Poinsett, VP/Community Relations, First Bank Richmond

First Bank Richmond is committed to be an integral partner to the communities in which they serve.  Since 1887, not only have they provided their community with sound financial products and services, they have also fostered a philanthropic commitment that has made a significant impact through the dedication of their organization’s resources, talents and time. This commitment is facilitated through the following channels:

  • Financial support pledged through contributions and event sponsorships. In 2020, they proudly donated more than $500,000 to local not-for-profit organizations.
  • Board/employee leadership and participation with local not-for-profit organizations. Last year, 60% of their staff served on a board or a committee and volunteered many service hours, even during a pandemic.
  • Donations (in-kind) and fundraising efforts to promote local initiatives.
