First Bank contributes in Shelby County

Written by Susan Richwine | Fri, Aug 14, 2020

Richmond, Indiana – First Bank Richmond announced today that they will make significant contributions to two organizations in our Shelbyville market in the month of August 2020; Girls Inc. of Shelbyville and Shelby County in the amount of $1,500 and Shelby County United Fund (SCUFFY) in the amount of $5,000.

Girls Inc. of Shelbyville and Shelby County focuses on the development of the whole girl. A combination of long-lasting mentoring relationships, a pro-girl environment, a research-based programming equips girls to lead fulfilling and productive lives, break the cycle of poverty, and become role models in the community. The contribution supports their gala event which will be a virtual celebration this year.

Shelby County United Fund (SCUFFY) improves the quality of life in Shelby County by mobilizing the caring power of volunteers and donors to advance the common good. They raise funds and garner awareness on behalf of several key local non-for profits. The contribution will foster those efforts.

“First Bank has been a consistent supporter of SCUFFY, year in and year out. In 2020, First Bank really stepped up to help our agencies provide a much-needed safety new during the pandemic. These funds helped put food on tables, provided childcare for working parents, and gave senior citizens a safe way to connect during a time of isolation.” - Alecia Gross, Executive Director

First Bank Richmond is committed to be an integral partner to the communities in which they serve. Since 1887, not only have they provided their community with sound financial products and services, they have also fostered a philanthropic commitment that has made a significant impact through the dedication of their organization’s resources, talents and time. This commitment is facilitated through the following channels:

  • Financial support pledged through contributions and event sponsorships. In 2019, they proudly donated more than $400,000 to local not-for-profit organizations.

  • Board/employee leadership and participation with local not-for-profit organizations. 65% of their staff served on a board or a committee and collectively volunteered over 3,000 service hours to local non-profit organizations.

  • Donations (in-kind) and fundraising efforts to promote local initiatives.
