Gasoline pay at the pump Debit Card Fee Warning

First Bank Richmond,NA customers, using their check / debit card at "pay at the pump" gas stations, will have a $20.00 hold placed on their bank account funds until the actual debit transaction clears their account for the correct amount. In the past this transaction was sent through for $1.00. Obviously, this is going to cause some customer's accounts to go negative.

Please be advised that this $20.00 transaction has nothing to do with First Bank Richmond, NA.

Visa or MasterCard is generating it on debit transactions for gas stations when the customer pays at the pump. First Bank Richmond, NA has been seeing the same $20.00 hold from gas stations in various parts of the country so it can't be associated with one particular gas station or brand of gas.

First Bank Richmond, NA believes that going inside to pay will prevent this problem.
